What is grace, and why do we need it?
How do I fix myself? Have you ever asked this question? Maybe you’ve done different things to try to fix yourself. You’ve tried a little harder to be good, tried a little more to control your anger or lustful thoughts. And maybe it works for a while, but it doesn’t seem to last. On top of that, it’s pretty exhausting!
We cannot fix ourselves. It is only by God’s grace that we are forgiven of our sin and receive a new heart, through Jesus’ death and resurrection. That was God’s part. Our part is to receive this gift by faith, trusting God to change us day by day from the inside out.
We are saved and transformed by God’s grace through faith in who Jesus is and what He has done for us.
Scriptures in This Video
“For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do – this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me...” (Romans 7:18-20)
“When the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:4-7)
