The Heart of Worship
Notes
Worship is to be a personal, regular response to God. Because He knows us so well, we will want to worship Him even more.
John 4:1-42 - Woman who had her heart read by Jesus
John 4:23-24 - The Father is seeking worshippers who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. Worship is love responding to love. It is to be our first response.
Worship is not about where or when, but all about who and who to.
Worship is not an event; it's a lifestyle.
Posture your head, your heart, your life to worship your Creator.
SEEK – Matthew 6:33
Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.
SET – Colossians 3:2
Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. We need to set it on the good – God's will and God's way.
SACRIFICE – Romans 12:1-2
Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
We will set our minds on what we seek after.
We will serve whatever we set our minds on.
We will worship where we make a sacrifice.

Worship is by the Spirit
A life of worship is a life of spiritual intimacy.
The Holy Spirit and the Truth make worshiping God Possible
John 6:63 - ”It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are my Spirit and they are life.”
John 16:7 - “I tell you the truth that it is for your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart I will send Him to you.”
2 Corinthians 13:14 - “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the communion/fellowship (Koinonia) of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”
John 14:1 - “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 14:6 - “Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Worship, both personally and corporately, is to be intimate with God.
Humbles us to hear His heart
The focus is on Him not us
Adjusts us to God’s purpose
Directs us towards His will
Empowers us in His ways
Jesus walked with God; He had daily intimacy with His Father – continuous fellowship with Him.
Worship is about the heart.
